What is responsive web design (RWD)?
Responsive Web Design is a design system in which a web application responds to the user's screen size. In other words, a responsive website re-adjusts its content to look equally appreciable on every screen size.
For Example: SEO Helpify itself is an example of a responsive website.
Resize your browser window, if you're on a PC, to observe how the web app responds to your resizing action.
How does the tool help with RWD?
The Webpage Screen Resolution Simulator utility requires two inputs from the user, that's you.
- The URL to the webpage.
- The screen resolution to be tested.
Now what you need to do is to enter a URL and then test that specific webpage on different screen resolutions. the first two:
- 160x160 pixels
- 320x320 pixels
are for smartwatches and smartphones respectively. Since smartwatch users are just 1% of the total internet users, it's totally understandable why 99% websites aren't designed to look good on them. Smartphones on the other hand are 80% source of web surfing and hence, a website must look good on them.
The next two are mostly the resolutions of tablets and larger smartphones. Then come the medium-sized to large-sized laptops and then eventually large resolution displays of PCs with 1600px width come into play.
Make sure that your website looks good and balanced on all screen sizes
Don't worry about the 160x160 pixel smartwatches as they can be designed for later on. For a detailed guide on how to make your website responsive, read This Article by Smashing Magazine.
